I Do by Cheyenne Blue
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I’m a definite fan of Cheyenne Blue’s romances so when I got an email directing me over to NetGalley to nab a copy of her latest book, I hustled on over. While getting ebooks directly from authors and publishers is lovely, having everything in one spot – mostly so I don’t forget – is nice.
So, back to I Do. I was a little hesitant because it’s a twin swap trope and I’m not usually one for romances based on deception but, like I said, I’m a fan of the author. Even taking my hesitancy into account, I Do missed with me in other ways, too.
I never felt connected or invested in the characters. They didn’t feel as fleshed out or genuine as others I’ve read by Blue. Really, there was a superficial feel to every aspect of the book. There were a lot of things going on (Sophie’s injury, the festival, Sophie’s ex, the lost job, the insta-love with Tarryn, the deception, Tarryn’s issues with marriage, etc) and I didn’t feel like any of them really got the attention they deserved. At least not enough for me to feel invested in the characters or the story.
I’m going to treat this as a one-off and eagerly await the next book by Ms. Blue.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this one!
